I am not sure if you have ever read the book "Who moved my cheese" by Spencer Johnson, MD but in there he talks of the 4 mice and the fact that there is change and we either follow the change or we don't. In today's market, this has to be more evident than ever before, because if you do not follow the changes, you will be left behind. (By the way, I highly recommend this book or audio to everyone). When I originally got into the mortgage industry, rates changed monthly, then it became weekly, and now, it is daily if not twice a day. When I came into the market, it was easy to sale to a customer because we were in a boom. Today, we are BOOMed out and need to be able to sale. I have interviewed a ton of loan officers where they say "Well, 6 months ago I was doing this, but since then I do not know what has happened." and my reply is, "Did you notice the change in the market?". Most of them sit and stare at me blankly and some get aggrevated. There is no reason for either. I believe that it is essential no matter what your field is to keep up with the trend in your market, because if you do not, someone else will. I want to be able to service my clients with the utmost confidence and I want all my loan offices doing the same thing. It does not matter how minor the change is, learn it and make it a part of your work.
